Waco, Texas - Baylor's men's golf team, guided by first-year head coach Greg Priest, will open its fall season by playing at the annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
The tournament consists of a competitive 20-team field that includes Baylor, Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, Colorado, Colorado State, Hawaii, UNLV, New Mexico J.V., New Mexico State, North Carolina State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, UTEP, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Toledo and host New Mexico State.
Arizona State (6), UNLV (13), North Carolina Sate (15), Arizona (17), and New Mexico (24) all finished the 2002-2003 season ranked in the top 25, according to Golfstat.com.
The format of the Invitational consists of 54 holes beginning with two 18-hole rounds Friday starting at 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and a final round Saturday.
The University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course is a par 72, measuring 7,354 yards.
The host University of New Mexico Lobos will try and defend their title at the William H. Tucker, which they have won the last two years.
In Baylor's last outing of the spring, the Bears finished 27th at the NCAA Central Regional, which was their sixth-consecutive trip to the tournament. The team was lead by then sophomore Ryan Baca who finished in a tie for 33rd.
