WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team is hosting the BU Tapatio Springs Shootout Sunday, March 23-Tuesday, March 25 at the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort in Boerne, Texas. Tapatio Springs is a 6,007-yard par 72 course.
The teams participating include regional teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten as well as teams from the state of Texas. The field consists of: Baylor, Illinois, Kent State, McLennan Community College, Missouri, Notre Dame, Texas-El Paso, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, TCU and Wisconsin.
Five of the participating teams are ranked in the top 50 by Golfstat. Baylor is currently ranked 28th in the nation. Other top-ranked teams include Kent State (30th), TCU (33rd), Missouri (43rd) and Illinois (48th).
The tournament will consist of 18 holes per round with one round being played each day. Split tee starts will begin at 7:30 a.m. each day.
The Bears are coming off an eighth-place finish at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Bears began the spring with two top-5 finishes. Seniors Melanie Hagewood and Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson have paced the team this spring. Hagewood was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for February. Those two will be joined in the line up by juniors Kelli McKandless and Michaelyn Morgan and freshman Josefin Svenningsson. Erin Bradford will play in the tournament as an individual.
