AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor Men's Golf concluded the third and final round at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate here Tuesday with the Bears finishing tied for 9th of 18 teams.
Baylor (296-295-285=876) was led by sophomore Ryan Baca (70-72-74=216) who despite shooting two over par in the final round, finished tied for 21st individually.
Oklahoma State (842) won the invitational by one stroke over host Texas (843). UNLV (858) finished third, TCU (863) finished fourth and Arizona State (865) rounded out the top five, finishing 23 strokes behind the champion Cowboys.
Junior Trevar Matheson (76-72-71=219) shot his best round on Tuesday and finished tied for 34th along with freshman Will McDonald (75-75-69=219) who also closed strong. McDonald's three-round 219 is a career best.
Junior Will Doughtie (75-76-71=222) shot a one under 71 on Tuesday and finished tied for 48th. Fellow junior Jon Antunes (79-76-78=233) fired a six over par 78 to finish tied for 85th.
As a team, the Bears have now finished in the top-10 in seven of the team's eight tournaments this season.
The Bears final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships will be on April 4-5 when the team travels to Laredo to compete in the 52nd annual Border Olympics, hosted by Texas A&M.
