Men's Golf In Ninth After Day One In Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii. - Sophomore Ryan Baca (34-32=66) shot an opening round 66 and currently leads all individuals at the 26-team Waikoloa Intercollegiate Wednesday. The Bears as a team are in ninth place, 13 strokes behind TCU.

Junior Will Doughtie (35-35=70) shot a two under par opening round and stands tied for 12th overall.

Senior Trevar Matheson (39-37=76) shot four over par Wednesday and is tied for 87th individually. Freshman Will McDonald (42-35=77) shot a strong back nine, but stands tied for 92nd.

Baylor (289) as a team shot one over par. TCU (276) leads the huge field by five strokes over Oklahoma (281). Lamar (283) and UCLA (283) are tied for third and.Texas Tech (284) is currently fifth.

Junior Jon Antunes (37-41=78) shot six-over par in the opening round and stands tied for 102nd individually

Thursday the Bears will play the second of three rounds at the invitational. The third and final round is scheduled to begin Friday at 7 a.m. Hawaii time.

Baylor is hoping to extend their streak of 15 consecutive regular season tournaments in which the team has finished in the top five.
