Waco, TX - Baylor signed three men's golfers to national letters of intent for the fall of 2004, head coach Greg Priest announced Wednesday.
Kevin Lozares, a senior at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif., Harris Graham, a senior from Denton High School and Bill Alcorn a senior from Abilene High School all inked with the Bears.
"They will make a great addition to our program and will have the opportunity to come in and make an impact right away," Priest said. "Even though we got a late start in recruiting, I feel good and I am excited about the players we're getting."
Lozares has a long list of accomplishments. He currently is ranked 73rd in the country according to the Titleist Junior Golf Week rankings. A 2002 Junior Tour Player of the Year and All-American, Lozares has won numerous junior golf tournaments, and received medalists honors at a number of high school events. He recently also made the cut and qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.
Graham, resides form Denton, Texas, also brings an impressive resume full of high school and junior golf accomplishments. He was the 2001 District 9-4A golf champion, notching five wins during the season and was a regional qualifier in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Graham was also named the Denton ISD Golfer of the Year during that same span.
Allcorn, a successful junior golf player has three state tournament wins as well as two national tournament wins under his belt. Allcorn also has proven to be successful in the classroom as well maintaining an impressive grade point average and ranks seventh in his class.
"Harris and Bill have both been great in Texas," Priest said. "They are also both two sports athletes, as they were both good high school basketball players. Now that they have a chance to concentrate on their golf games, they have great potential to excel."
The Bears finished their fall season finishing eighth at the C.C. of Louisiana Invitational in Baton Rouge, and will next compete Jan. 31- Feb. 1 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., hosted by Florida
