Men's Golf Sits in 5th at LSU Tournament

WACO, Texas - Junior Ryan Baca and freshman Jeremy Alcorn each finished the first day of competition in the LSU-hosted Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate in a four-way tie for sixth place after firing a 2-under par 142 over two rounds in Baton Rouge on Monday.

The Bears, competing in their final event of the fall season, sit in fifth place in the 15-team tournament after day one at even par 576 over the 7,060 yard course. LSU leads the tournaments at 8-under par (568), two strokes ahead of Arkansas (570). North Florida (572) and SMU (574) are currently in third and fourth, respectively.

Baca carded rounds of 69 and 73 on Monday while Alcorn shot back-to-back 71s. Senior Jon Antunes ended up with a 1-over par 145, good for a 23rd place tie with scores of 73 and 72. Jaime Luna, a transfer from Odessa JC, posted rounds of 76 and 71 to finish the day tied for 32nd and senior Will Doughtie shot 85 and 75 to tie for 79th place.

The tournament's final round (18 holes) will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
