WACO, Texas - Baylor women's golf maintained yesterday's lead to defend its title as champions of Notre Dame's adidas Fall Invitational. The Bears' three-round total of 888 is their lowest score since the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic on Sept. 9-10, 2002. Baylor's total of 292 on Monday is its third-lowest 18-hole score of all time. The University of Missouri finished one stroke behind for second place (889).

Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson carded rounds of 69-71-70 (210), the lowest 54-hole score in Baylor history. She improved her best three-round total by 10 strokes to win her first tournament title. Svenningsson's first-round 69 is Baylor's lowest 18-hole score. Her efforts helped Baylor win its first title of the fall.

Coach Sylvia Ferdon said, "Josefin played super from the get-go in this tournament; it's nice to see her win. She's finally establishing her own game. She emerged as our leader from the beginning of the fall."

The Bears battled together to end their fall season with a victory at the 72-par, 5,844-yard Lansbrook Golf Course in Palm Harbor, Fla. Senior Michaelyn Morgan earned fourth place with rounds of 69-71-70 (220). Freshman Anna Rehnholm tied for 23rd with a total of 229. Kelli McKandless shot a 77 again today to tie for 38th. Sophomore Erin Bradford scored a 240 to finish in a two-way tie for 51st. Meredith Jones totaled 242 and tied for 56th.

"We've really exceeded our expectations for the fall," Coach Ferdon said of the Bears. "Different people have stepped forward for us throughout the tournament and that was really important for us."

The adidas Invitational was Baylor's last competition of the fall season. The Bears' next action will be in the spring when they return to the Sunshine State for the Michigan State/Northwestern Central District Invitational from Feb. 23-24 in Parrish, Fla.
