LAWRENCE, Kan. - Sophomore Ryan Baca (68-68=136) shot a combined 136 and currently leads all individuals at the Kansas Invitational Monday. The Bears as a team hold a huge 15 stroke lead over Wichita State heading into the final round of 18 Tuesday.
Junior Will Doughtie (71-71=142) shot one under par in each of his first two rounds and stands tied for fourth overall with teammate Jamie McLeary. McLeary (72-70=142) a junior from Scotlandwell, Scotland followed an even par 72 with a second round 70.
Baylor (564) as a team shot 12 under par and was the only team to break par. Wichita State (579) is currently in second just one stroke above host Kansas (580). Iowa State (586) and North Texas (591) round out the top five.
Junior Adam Meyer (74-70=144) joins Doughtie, McLeary and Baca in the top 10. Meyer followed an opening round 74 with a two-under 70 and stands tied for eighth place.
Sophomore Derek Abel (77-76=153) shot a second round 76 and is currently tied for 52nd.
Tomorrow the Bears will try to clinch their 16th tournament title under seventh-year head coach Tim Hobby.
The final 18 holes of the Kansas Invitational will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m.
