Baylor Men's Golfers Finish Fifth In Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Junior Adam Meyer achieved his third career top five finish to help Baylor's men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, Tuesday.

Meyer (73-75-72=220) followed opening rounds of 73 and 75 by shooting a third round 72 for a three-round score of 220, finishing tied for fifth overall. Baylor (899) had its best round Tuesday shooting 10-over par as a team.

For the second year in a row, host College of Charleston (879) topped the 15-team field. Mississippi (887) finished in second, eight strokes behind the Panthers. Virginia Tech (896) and Alabama (897) finished third and fourth respectively.

Junior Will Doughtie (74-76-75=225) shot a closing round 75 to finish tied for 25th and sophomore Ryan Baca (77-76-75=228) shot his best round of the tournament to finish tied for 31st along with senior Trevar Matheson (79-73-76=228) who shot a four over 76 on Tuesday.

Junior Jon Antunes (77-78-86=241) shot a final round 86 to finish tied for 73rd.

This was Baylor's 11th straight regular season tournament finish in the top five.

Baylor's next action will be on Sept. 23 and 24 when they travel to Lawrence, Kan. When the Bears compete at the Jayhawk Intercollegiate.
