Overall
This is a proud moment for our program. These guys are special kids, they have played hard this season. We finished fifth in the regular season and we have competed hard against two great ball clubs. This is a historic moment for K-State. This is our first tournament win. This is huge for K-Staters everywhere and our program.
On scoring early
This group of players is always going to get after it. We felt good, we had a lot of confidence, we won 2 of 3 against Baylor during the regular season, but Taylor is a good pitcher. We had a lot of good hits. I really thought the key today was Brock Smith. He came out and threw zeros for us. He's been nails lately for us. He was great during the last half of the season. We had used a lot of our bullpen yesterday, so it was imperative that Brock go out there and pitch well.
Kansas State Pitcher Brock Smith
On the game
I wanted to get ahead of the hitters. All three of my pitches were hitting today. Our defense was great, they always make a lot of good plays.
On his strikeouts
I'm not really a strikeout pitcher, but I was dropping down to sidearm and throwing my curve and fastball a lot. They (the piches) were hitting, so I just went with that.

Overall
I thought the game, from our standpoint, was a game of inches. As I shared yesterday, we are playing just good enough to lose. Their pitcher was really on his game today and we didn't take advantage of it when he wasn't. From the first inning on, anything that could go against us did. You have to battle through that and we didn't.
