AUBURN, Wash. -
Baylor's Melanie Hagewood shot a two-under-par 70 in Wednesday's second round and moved up to sixth at the 2002 NCAA Championship Finals at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash.
Hagewood followed a first-round even-par 72 with Wednesday's 70 and is tied at sixth at 142. She is five strokes off the pace set by Virada Nirapathpongporn of Duke at 137.
The first Baylor women's golfer to participate in the NCAA Finals, Hagewood qualified for individual play after finishing fourth at the NCAA Central Regional in East Lansing, Mich., May 11.
The junior from Clarksville, Tenn., continues at the championships with a third round tee time Thursday at 10:50 a.m. CDT. Play concludes with a final round Friday.
The NCAA Championships includes 24 teams and six individual golfers.
