Baylor's women's golf team shot a third-round 318 Sunday to finish fourth at the 2002 Big 12 Championships at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan.
Baylor, ranked 33rd in the latest GOLFSTAT national rankings, stood second at 608 after concluding the second round Sunday morning. The partially completed second round was suspended Saturday due to rain and lightning.
The Bears finished 17 strokes behind champion Oklahoma State (909). Oklahoma placed second at 912, and Texas finished third with a 921.
The Bears were led by junior Melanie Hagewood, who shot a final-round 78 and finished tied for sixth individually at 227 (80-69-78). Hagewood shot a tournament-best three-under 69 in the two-day second round, including a double eagle on the par-5, 478-yard No. 4 hole Sunday morning.
Junior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson also carded a 78 Sunday and finished tied for 11th with a 229 (76-75-78). Senior Nicole Johnson placed in a tie at 19th at 235 (74-80-81) after shooting a third-round 81 Sunday. Senior Tara Bateman also shot a third-round 81 Sunday and finished tied at 25th with a 236 (77-78-81).
The Colbert Hills Golf Club is a 6,008-yard, par 72 course.
