Little Rock, Ark. - Baylor sophomore Jon Antunes tied his career-low with an opening round 68 Monday to lead the Bears to second place after 18 holes at the Chenal Trojan Cup. Darkness limited opening day play to just one round. Play was suspended with 14 holes completed in the second round. The final four holes of the second round will begin at 8 a.m Tuesday.
The Bears (285) shot a strong opening round to finish just three shots behind front-runner Lamar (282) who leads the 19-team field.
Three Baylor players stand among the top eight individuals. Antunes (68) is currently tied for second overall at four-under par. Freshman Ryan Baca (69) currently stands tied for fourth overall and Sophomore Will Doughtie (71) finished the day tied for eighth overall with three other golfers.
Southeastern Louisiana (288) stands in third place, just three strokes behind Baylor. New Mexico State (292) is in fourth place after shooting four over par. Host Arkansas-Little Rock and Texas-Arlington (294) are tied for fifth.
Baylor Junior Jamie McLeary (72) is currently tied for 13th overall and Sophomore Adam Meyer (73) finished one over par and is tied for 21st overall.
The Chenal Trojan Cup continues Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. with the completion of the second round followed by an additional 18-hole third round at the Chenal Country Club.
