BU Women's Golf Finishes Sixth in Florida

WACO, Texas - The women's golf team finished tied for sixth place out of 14 teams at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. hosted by Michigan State.

The Bears, ranked 35th nationally by Golfstat, shot a 305 and 301 Monday and finished with a final round 304 for a total score of 910.

Sophomore Kelli McKandless led the Bears into the sixth place tie after posting scores of 78-73-73 (224) to give her the tie for 10th place.

Rounding out the individual scoring for the Bears, junior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson shot 74-77-77 (228) to tie for 26th, junior Melanie Hagewood finished tied for 31st after posting scores of 77-78-74 (229). Senior Tara Bateman shot 76-77-81 (234) giving her the tie for 43rd and senior Nicole Johnson finished tied for 43rd also after carding rounds of 80-74-80 (243).

Michigan State took the victory after posting 884 followed by Ohio State (895), Purdue (895), Michigan (903), and Oklahoma (904).

Next up for the Bears is a trip to Bryan, Texas for the Verizon "Mo"Morial Invitational hosted by Texas A&M. The tournament will be held March 4-5.
