WACO, Texas - Eric Errante drove in four runs as the 17th-ranked Baylor baseball team overcame a sluggish start to beat Oral Roberts 7-3 Friday night at Baylor Ballpark.

Baylor (5-4) got seven innings from starter Steven White (2-0), who settled down and pitched around four walks and five hits for the win. White struck out seven and gave up just one earned run on the night.

The Bears jumped out in front in the second inning. With two outs and runners on second and third, Eric Errante blooped a ball over the second baseman and into right field to drive in two runs.

Oral Roberts (7-4) tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third. A pair of doubles and an error by shortstop Trey Webb (after a fantastic over the shoulder catch of a pop-up) led to the two runs.

Errante drove in two more runs in his next at-bat. A single, hit batsman and sacrifice bunt this time set the table for the junior second baseman, who singled to left to put Baylor on top 4-0.

It was another pair of runs in the sixth inning that knocked out ORU starter Dallas Martin (0-1). This time, it was Michael Griffin (RBI groundout) and Steve Dorneman (single to right) who drove in the runs.

Stockton Davis pitched 3 2/3 of good relief for the Golden Eagles, keeping his team in the game. The Bears' seventh run came after Mike Huggins reached on a single, took second on a balk, and scored on Griffin's single up the middle.

Oral Roberts threatened in the ninth, putting two men on with two outs and putting the tying run on deck. Kyle Edens came in to relieve Paul Thorp and got the final out for his second save of the season.

In a reverse of what has been the case for most of the season, Baylor's top two hitters in the lineup went a combined 0-for 9, while the rest of the squad combined for 12 hits. Tim Hartshorn saw his career-best eight-game hitting streak snapped, while Webb went hitless for just the second time this season.

Baylor and Oral Roberts continue play Saturday at 3 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark.
