Nov. 18, 2002

Waco, Texas - Head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon announced the signing of Anna Rehnholm of Karlskrona, Sweden to a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Bears beginning in the fall of 2003. Rehnholm is currently a member of the Swedish National Team.

Rehnholm is currently ranked 14th out of 100 in the Bankboken Tour Rankings for 2002. She is also the 2002 representative for Sweden in the French Open Junior Championship. Rehnholm finished in the top 20 in the Belgium Junior Open Championship this year. After taking the individual medal at the 2001 Bankboken Tour Elite, Rehnholm also clutched the second and fourth place slots in the 2002 matchup.

Coach Ferdon says, "Anna's experience at the national level shows that she can handle the caliber of competition that is now being played in NCAA Division I Women's Intercollegiate Golf. We, in the Central Region and Big 12 Conference, have some of the toughest playing conditions and Anna's resume showed me she can play through all of it and post the scores needed to win. Sometimes it takes two years for collegiate players to have the ability that Anna already shows."

Ferdon also said, "Anna will make a great contribution to maintaining, and probably elevating the level of competitiveness that the Lady Bears have worked hard to achieve. Her goals are set high and she meets all the criteria that I look for in a recruit. Our national exposure, our membership in the Big 12 Conference, our facilities, and the academic standards at Baylor were main factors in attracting Anna to make her decision."
