Baylor got strong enough performances from sophomore
Ryan Baca and juniors Will Doughtie and Adam Meyer to finish fourth out of 14 teams at the Nestle Purina Classic.
Baca (68-69-73=210) lead all Bears by shooting a third round 73 for a three-round score of 210, finishing tied for 12th overall. Baylor, (284-279-292=855) as a team finished 19 strokes behind tournament champion Illinois.
Along with Baca, Junior Will The Illini (836) finished three strokes ahead of host Missouri (839). Iowa State (853) finished in third, West Florida (855) and Baylor tied for fourth. Kansas finished sixth (858).
Junior Will Doughtie (71-65-68=214) shot a closing round 68 to finish tied for 18th along with junior Adam Meyer (72-73-69=214) who shot his best round of the tournament Tuesday.
Senior Jamie McLeary (73-73-72=218) also shot his best round of the tournament Tuesday and finished tied for 32nd. Junior Jon Antunes (81-72-81=234) shot a final round 81 to finish tied for 69th.
This was Baylor's 13th straight regular season tournament finish in the top five.
Baylor's next action will be on Oct. 21 and 22 when they travel to McKinney, Texas to compete at the Stonebridge Invitational hosted by SMU.
