WACO, Texas - Baylor???sup>TMs men???sup>TMs golf team shot a third round 292 and finished second behind SMU by two strokes at the Baylor Invitational at Bear Ridge Golf Club.
Baylor (277-282-292=851) finished 13 under par for the tournament. The team was lead by sophomore Ryan Baca (69-67-75=211) shot a third round 75 and finished tied for fifth among all individuals.
SMU???sup>TMs Brock Mulder (66-67-71) took home the individual medal with a three-round 204.
The Bears finished tied with Lamar (851) for second. It marked the second straight tournament that the two schools had tied. North Texas (855) and Louisville (858) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Along with Baca, senior Jamie McLeary and junior Adam Meyer tied for 13th overall. McLeary (66-72-76=214) shot a four-over par 76 on Tuesday and Meyer shot a three-over par 75.
Junior Will Doughtie (71-73-72=216) finished tied for 22nd after an even par 72 in the final round. Senior Trevar Matheson (72-73-72=217) tied his best round of the tournament Tuesday and finished tied for 27th.
Derek Abel, Jon Antunes and Will McDonald each competed individually for the Bears. Abel (73-74-77=224) finished tied for 63rd. Antunes (72-76-80=228) finished 75th and McDonald (75-76-78=229) finished 76th.
Baylor has now finished in the top five in their 15th consecutive regular season tournament.
The 20th-ranked Bears will start their spring season on Feb. 12 when the team competes at the Big Island Classic in Waikohoha, Hawaii.
