McKINNEY, Texas - Senior Jamie McLeary finished second among all individuals and led Baylor to a first place tie with Lamar at the Stonebridge Invitational Tuesday.
McLeary (67-72-71=210) followed Monday's rounds of five-under and even par with a third round 71 to finish just one stroke behind individual medallist Andrew Dahl of Arkansas.
Baylor (283-286-288=857) captured the team title despite shooting even par on Tuesday. Arkansas (862) finished third, five strokes behind the Bears and Cardinals. Texas Tech (868) and Notre Dame (873) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Three Bears finished in the top-20. Sophomore Ryan Baca (71-70-73=214) shot a closing round 73 to finish tied for sixth. Junior Will Doughtie (72-75-70=217) shot two-under Tuesday to finish tied for 17th.
Junior Adam Meyer (73-71-76=220) shot four-over par Tuesday and finished tied for 20th. Senior Trevar Matheson (72-75-69) competed as an individual and shot his best round of the tournament Tuesday and finished tied for 12th.
This was Baylor's 14th straight regular season tournament finish in the Top 5, the team championship is the 17th under seventh-year head coach Tim Hobby.
The 20th-ranked Bears will next compete on Oct. 21 and 22 when they host the Baylor Invitational at the Bear Ridge Golf Course. It will be the first tournament that the Bears will host at their new facility.
The Bears won the tournament they hosted at the Ridgewood Country Club that featured a 18-team field.
