Men's Golfers Finish Seventh In South Carolina

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Jamie McLeary and Adam Meyer led Baylor's men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Kiawah Island Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C., Tuesday.

McLeary followed opening rounds of 74 and 71 by shooting a team-best 69 Tuesday for a three-round score of 214, placing 15th overall. Meyer (71-69-74) tied McLeary for 15th after a final round of 74.

Host College of Charleston won the tournament, which featured a 15-team field, with a 17-under 847. Alabama (854) finished second, followed by Augusta State (856), BYU (857), Maryland (860) and Tulsa (866).

Baylor as a team finished two-over-par with a score of 867 (290-283-294) after a closing round of 294.

Freshman Ryan Baca placed well, finishing the tournament 36th (71-73-77) by shooting a 77.

Sophomore Jon Antunes (74-76-75) finished tied for 51st overall. Antunes shot a 75 today.

The Bears will continue their fall schedule on Sept. 29 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the opening round of the Wolverine Invitational.
