WACO, Texas - The Baylor baseball team welcomed nine new players to campus Monday as classes began for the fall semester. Among the nine were Trey Taylor, a second-round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies, and transfer Eric Errante, the most recent addition to the team.
Taylor was drafted by the Rockies in June with a supplemental pick between the second and third rounds of the major league draft. The freshman went 9-1 with a 2.02 ERA as a senior at Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Texas./
Errante, a middle infielder from Chandler (Ariz.) College, signed with the Bears this summer. He joins eight other signees in starting classes Monday: Taylor, Ryan Bennett, Zachary Dillon, Joshua Ford, Michael Griffin, Sean Walker, Abe Woody and Paul Witt.
Two Baylor signees signed pro contracts, outfielder Alan Moye signed with the Cincinnati Reds, and second baseman Josh Barfield signed with the San Diego Padres.
