WACO,Texas - Matt Williams' fourth home run in as many games was not enough as Southwest Missouri State edged Baylor 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark.

Baylor (21-9) had its three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of SMS starter Matt Palmer (2-2), who threw a complete game, giving up just seven hits while walking only one batter. SMS improved to 14-8 with the win.

Williams' homer to left tied the game at two in the fifth inning, but in the sixth, SMS's Ben Margalski ripped a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall, giving SMS a 3-2 lead they never relinquished.

Baylor starter Jared Theodorakos (4-2) threw five plus innings and gave up just one earned run, while striking out eight batters and walking two.

Two bright spots for Baylor were Ron Zboril, who went 3-for-3 on the day with two RBI and Kelly Shoppach, who extended his hitting streak to 21 games with a single in the sixth inning.

Baylor will resume Big 12 play at home this weekend with Kansas State. The first game of the series with the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
