WACO, Texas - Baseball, barbecue, golf and goodwill were menu items at the 2001 Baylor Baseball Alumni Weekend Oct. 19-21. Sixty-three golfers played rounds on Friday and then converged on Baylor Ballpark for a barbecue dinner in the Mickey Sullivan Room with 30 other old friends and teammates.
On Saturday, 35 former Baylor baseball players suited up for the annual alumni game at the ballpark, with the Gold squad winning 7-5 over the Green team. Current major leaguers Jason Jennings of the Colorado Rockies and Kip Wells of the Chicago White were in uniform and were cheered on by Grover Wilcox of Waco, a member of BU teams in 1940-41 and the oldest alum in attendance.
Also on hand were current Baylor baseball head coach Steve Smith and former head coaches Dutch Schroeder and Mickey Sullivan.
