Carlson Named Freshman All-America

WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball reliever Zane Carlson has been named to the USA Today Baseball Weekly Freshman All-America team.
Carlson, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, has appeared in 24 games for the Bears, posting a 1-2 record with a 2.28 ERA. He also ranks fifth in the nation with 15 saves this season, breaking Baylor records for saves in a season and career saves.
In addition to being named Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the Big 12 coaches, Carlson has also received an invitation to the USA Baseball National Team Trials in Tucson, Ariz.
The Bears continue play Friday at 7 p.m. when they take on Southwest Texas State in game one of the NCAA Waco Regional.
