Baylor equestrian head coach Casie Maxwell announced on August 25 that former Bear Megan Wood will serve as the program’s Assistant Jumping Seat Coach, rounding out the coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Loomis, Calif., native was a manager for the green and gold from 2017-2019 and joined the team as a student-athlete from 2019-2021, and is thrilled to be back at Baylor.
“It’s an honor and a blessing to join this coaching staff at such an incredible University,” Wood said. “I’m grateful to Coach Maxwell for this opportunity and I am looking forward to working alongside such a fantastic staff. I’m excited to share my enthusiasm for Baylor and support our student-athletes as they pursue excellence in competition, academics, and their spiritual and personal growth.”
Heading into her ninth season as head coach, Maxwell is excited to welcome Wood to Baylor to close out her coaching staff.
“Megan brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our program that will be vital in her role,” Maxwell said. “Megan bleeds green and gold, and I am excited to see her love for Baylor reflected in our student-athletes' experience. I am eager to get started with our staff complete and cannot wait to see the impact that all of our wonderful coaches and operations personnel bring to our program.”
In her time as a Bear, Wood was selected to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection and was named a SACE Academic Champion in the 2019-20 season.
After her time at Baylor, Wood began her career as an Assistant Trainer at JH Sporthorses in Northern California, which sparked her love for coaching and mentorship. She then returned to Waco and has served as a lesson instructor at McLennan Community College.
