Bears host Texas State for the fourth time in the last three seasons
WACO, Texas – The sixth-ranked Baylor soccer squad is back on the Banks of the Brazos on Sunday evening, hosting Texas State for the fourth time in the last three seasons at 7:30 p.m. The match features free admission and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Bears hit the pitch with their highest ranking in program history, breaking into the Week One Coaches Poll at No. 6 following defeats of then-No. 10 Arkansas and Texas A&M to open the 2026 season.
Baylor's 2-0 start is the 14th in school history and the best in the Michelle Lenard era. With a win, BU would achieve its first 3-0 start since 2012 and only eighth all-time.
Sunday's match is the ninth between the Bears and the Bearcats, having faced off three times already between 2024 and 2025, including a pair last season: a 4-1 win in non-conference play and a 3-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Betty Lou Mays Field.
Texas State is fresh off its 3-2 defeat of Texas A&M in San Marcos in a 2-0-1 start to the year that also saw a win over UTRGV and a draw against UTSA. Victoria Beza leads the Bearcats with four goals off 14 shots and a game-winner versus Texas A&M.
Baylor's Callie Conrad was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in the opening week off just two shots. Against Arkansas, the senior scored in the 56th minute for what turned out to be the game-winner before striking quickly in the home opener against Texas A&M in the seventh minute of action at Betty Lou Mays Field.
Joining Conrad, Lauren Omholt, Olivia Hess, Noelle Sather and Grace White have each found the back of the net in the first two matches of the season, while Theresa McCullough and freshman Brynnlee Bohannon lead the squad with two assists each.
Sunday's match is the back half of the home-opening two-match stand, before the Bears hit the road to play Texas in Austin next Thursday.
