Bears dominate SEC’s No. 2 preseason pick in Lenard’s first top-10 win

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Baylor soccer debuted its 2026 season in historical fashion on Thursday night, dominating 10^th-ranked Arkansas, 4-1, at Razorback Field. The win marked the first top-10 win in the Michelle Lenard era and the first for Baylor since a 2021 defeat of No. 8 TCU.

Despite being picked seventh in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, Baylor handed Arkansas, picked second in the SEC Preseason Poll, its worst home loss since 2011.

Baylor struck first in the 16^th minute, when a foul on Presley Marvil inside the box gave Baylor a penalty kick. Lauren Omholt stepped up and converted, marking the first PK attempt and goal of her career. It also marked the second-straight season Omholt has scored Baylor's first goal of the year.

The Bears held on the remainder of the half and took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Arkansas came out of the break looking for an equalizer, drawing their first corner kick of the match in the 51^st minute, but were unable to generate a clean look at the net.

Baylor pulled away in a decisive stretch midway through the second half, scoring three goals in an 11-minute span.

In the 56^th minute, Callie Conrad buried her 12^th career goal off assists from Brynnlee Bohannon and Natalie Vatter, marking Bohannon's first career assist in her first game. Eight minutes later, Olivia Hess found the net for the fourth goal of her career, set up by Theresa McCullough. Just two minutes after that, Noelle Sather scored her first goal as a Bear to make it 4-0, finding the back of the net on a rocket shot from outside of the box.

Arkansas answered in the 68^th minute, converting off a corner kick when Aniyah Nurse-Whyte scored on an assist from Jordyn Bryant, but the Razorbacks could not find a way back into the match.

In goal, Azul Alvarez played all 90 minutes for Baylor, finishing with two saves as the Bears held on for the season-opening win.

Baylor is back in Waco to host Texas A&M, their second consecutive SEC foe, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Admission to Betty Lou Mays Field is free for the green out match, where fans are encouraged to wear their best Baylor green and be one of the first 200 to pick up a free green T-shirt upon entry.
