Head coach Scott Drew grabs sixth straight five-star recruit
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball head coach Scott Drew announced Tuesday the signing of five-star point guard Dylan Mingo to its 2026 signing class.
Rated the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2026 class by Rivals and a consensus top-ranked point guard nationally, Mingo becomes the sixth consecutive five-star signee under Drew. Across all major outlets, he grades out as a composite top-five talent in the 2026 class and a consensus top-10 prospect.
A product of Long Island Lutheran High School in New York, Mingo missed most of his senior season with injury but turned heads on the summer circuit. In 12 regular-season games on the Nike EYBL circuit last spring and summer with the PSA Cardinals, Mingo averaged 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals. The incoming freshman was ranked No. 9 in the SC Next 100 and was named MVP of the NBPA Top 100 Camp last summer after averaging 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists.
The 6-foot-5 tall with a 6-foot-10 wingspan Mingo chose Baylor over numerous offers including North Carolina, Penn State and Washington. Mingo will join his older brother Kayden Mingo, a Penn State transfer who signed with Baylor earlier this month.
The addition of Mingo boosts Baylor's 2026 recruiting class as he joins four-star wing Elijah Williams who committed to Baylor in November.
Mingo and brother Kayden both attended the same high school as former Bear and current Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe, a previous five star recruit for Baylor. Mingo joins Kendall Brown, Keyonte George, Ja'Kobe Walter, Edgecombe and Tounde Yessoufou as the sixth straight five star recruit for Drew.
