
MBB Signs Penn State Transfer, Kayden Mingo

Mingo comes to Waco from Happy Valley
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball picked up another addition in the portal on Thursday, announcing the signing of Kayden Mingo, a guard from Penn State.
The 6-3, 195-pound guard is coming off his freshman season in Happy Valley where he averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals in 28 starts for the Nittany Lions. Mingo shot 48% from the field and 71% from the line in his first collegiate season.
The true freshman's defensive efforts landed him second in the Big Ten in steals per game (2.1) with a Kenpom ranking of 54th nationally in steal percentage. On the offensive end, Mingo's 4.3 assists per game ranked tied for 13th in the conference for the 2025-26 season.
Mingo scored in double figures in 21 games with three of those being 20-plus points. He had a season-best game at Oregon with 24 points, going 9-for-13 from the field. The freshman dished out a season-high of eight assists at Ohio State.
According to On3, Mingo is listed as the No. 29 overall transfer in this year's portal cycle.
The Farmingdale, New York, native graduated from Long Island Lutheran, the same high school as former Bear and current Philadelphia 76ers player VJ Edgecombe. Mingo was a consensus top-40 recruit and the highest-ranked recruit in Penn State's program history. Out of high school, he was ranked No. 34 nationally per 247Sports and No. 39 per ESPN. His senior year, he was named the Gatorade New York Basketball Player of the Year.
Mingo will join the Bears with three years of eligibility remaining.
