MG: Bears Shoot Even Par in Second Round

BU moves up five spots to tie for 7th at Mountaineer Invite
MOUNTAINEER RESULTS
BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Bouncing back from a difficult opening round, the Baylor men's golf team shot even-par 288 Monday afternoon and moved up five spots to a tie for seventh at the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club.
Auburn transfer Evan Vo carded a 1-under 71 in the second round, while UConn transfer Alex Heard shot back-to-back even-par rounds of 72 and moved into the top 20 to help the Bears climb to the top half of the 19-team field.
Clemson made an even bigger jump, going from 10th to first with a 14-under-par 274 that left the Tigers with a one-stroke lead over the host West Virginia team at 8-under 568. Fifth-ranked Arkansas is third at 6-under 570, followed by eighth-ranked Texas Tech (5-under, 471) and No. 6 Oklahoma State (3-under, 573).
The Bears are tied for seventh with Appalachian State at 14-over 590, 12 shots behind sixth-place TCU (2-over, 578).
Offsetting nine bogeys with nine birdies, Heard posted a pair of 72s and is tied for 19th at 144, eight shots behind 36-hole leader Preston Stout of Oklahoma State (8-under, 136). Jonas Appel eagled the par-5 eighth hole in a first-round score of even-par 72 and is tied for 24th at 1-over 145.
Vo's under-par round followed a 7-over 79 in the morning round that matched Davis Ovard, who is tied for 56th at 7-over 151. Sam Dossey shot 3-over-par 75 in the second round after an opening-round 82.
Paired with TCU, Oklahoma State and Appalachian State for Tuesday's third round, Baylor will start off No. 1 with tee times beginning at 7:50 a.m. CT. Saint Francis, the lone team not to finish the second round, will play its closing holes starting at 6:15 a.m.
