Bears to honor four seniors on Sunday
WACO, Texas – No. 11 Baylor men's tennis returns to the Hurd Tennis Center on Sunday for a rivalry matchup against No. 4 TCU with the first serve set for 1 p.m. CT. Following, Baylor will take on UTRGV at 6 p.m. CT.
At the conclusion of the TCU match, Baylor will honor its four seniors of Alexandru Chirita, Luc Koenig, Zsombor Velcz and Arman Zamani for its Senior Day.
The Bears (20-7, 6-1 Big 12) bring an eight-match win streak into the weekend after sweeping Midwestern State and BYU in a midweek doubleheader and taking down Texas Tech in Lubbock. Baylor has won all five of its recent home matches and looks to carry that momentum into a key conference clash.
TCU (18-5, 6-1 Big 12) enters Sunday tied with Baylor for second in the league standings. The Horned Frogs took the last meeting during a non-conference matchup in February at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
Baylor continues to lean on its strength at the top of the lineup, led by No. 7 Devin Badenhorst in singles. He is joined by No. 35 Zsombor Velcz and No. 46 Connor Van Schalkwyk, giving the Bears three ranked players to anchor the lineup.
With both teams sitting tied for second in the Big 12 standings, Sunday's contest carries significant postseason implications for seeding at the Big 12 and the NCAA Tournament.
UTRGV enters the match with a 7-15 overall record and have won the last two Southland Conference matches.
Live stats and live video will be provided for both matches.
