MT’s Badenhorst Snags Big 12 Player of the Week

The junior earns his second weekly honor of the season
IRVING, Texas – Baylor men's tennis junior Devin Badenhorst has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It marks the second weekly honor this season Badenhorst has won.
Badenhorst, the No. 14-ranked singles player in the nation, went 2-0 at the top of the Bears' lineup during a road swing through the desert, helping Baylor go 1-1 against No. 15 Arizona with a win at No. 25 Arizona State to open Big 12 competition.
The junior opened the week Friday at Arizona, where he dominated No. 3-ranked Jay Friend at the No. 1 singles position, ruling him 6-3, 6-0. He followed that performance Sunday at Arizona State, defeating No. 100-ranked Bor Artnak 6-2, 6-1 to close out the trip in equally dominant fashion.
Badenhorst did not drop more than three games in any set throughout the week, winning his two singles matches by a combined 24-6 margin. The wins improved him to 8-6 overall in dual match singles play this season, including a sterling 6-1 record against nationally ranked opponents.
