MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 36 Baylor defeated No. 62 Kansas State 4-2, earning its fourth road win and extending its winning streak to five matches.
The Bears (10-4, 5-1 Big 12) remained undefeated on the road at 4-0. The Wildcats fell to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor dropped the doubles point to open the match. Kennedy Gibbs and Neda Rahimkhani fell 6-3, followed by Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas losing 7-5.
Kansas State extended its lead to 2-0 after Gabrielle Villegas was defeated 6-3, 6-3 by Varvara Bernovich in singles play, but Baylor responded quickly. Mu-Jie Tzeng put the Bears on the board with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 comeback victory over Diana Smolinska.
Na Dong kept the momentum going, defeating Martaa Chogsomjav 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 to even the match at 2-2. Kubacha followed with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win against Maralgoo Chogsomjav to give Baylor a 3-2 lead.
Alian Zack clinched the match for the Bears with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Sasha Kyselova, securing Baylor's fourth and decisive point.
