WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis will open Big 12 play this weekend at the Hurd Tennis Center, hosting Arizona on Friday at noon and No. 6 Arizona State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Baylor (4-3) begins the weekend with its Go Gold match against Arizona (7-3). The Bears are coming off a dominant 4-0 win over Harvard last week and will look to carry that momentum into the matchup with the Wildcats.
This will be the fourth meeting between the programs. Baylor has won two of the previous three contests, including both matchups during the 2024-25 season, a 4-0 sweep in Tucson and a 4-3 victory at home in the Big 12 Championship.
After Friday's match, the Bears will face No. 6 Arizona State on Sunday. The Sun Devils (8-2) enter on a five-match winning streak that includes a 4-1 non-conference win over Texas Tech.
Baylor's most recent meeting with Arizona State resulted in a 4-3 Bears win. Baylor's last victory over a top-10 opponent came in 2017 against No. 2 Miami.
Arizona does not feature any nationally ranked singles or doubles players. Arizona State's roster includes one ranked player: No. 16 Emilija Tverijonaite in singles.
Baylor has two ranked singles players, No. 73 Na Dong and No. 110 Zuzanna Kubacha. The same pair is also ranked No. 88 in doubles.
The Cub Tennis Club will be at 12 p.m. on Sunday before the match against Arizona State starts. The Baylor Cub Tennis program is open to children ages 3-11 and provides participants an opportunity to learn basic tennis skills from Baylor student-athletes and staff. All equipment will be provided, but participants are encouraged to wear athletic apparel and tennis shoes.
