Seven Bears in the Field at Trinity Forest Invitational
Dallas, Texas – Baylor Men's Golf is heading north to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational. The three-day event runs from Oct. 4-6 at Trinity Forest Golf Club and features 16 teams.
The field includes programs from three of the four Power Four conferences and features several teams receiving national recognition. No. 19 East Tennessee State enters the week as the highest-ranked team in the field, while USC and Loyola Marymount have also received votes in the latest Golfweek Coaches Poll.
Trinity Forest Golf Club, which opened in 2016, will play as a par 72 at 7,617 yards. Despite its short history, Trinity Forest has hosted several notable events, including the AT&T Byron Nelson and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The course is also scheduled to host the 2031 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
Baylor enters the week following the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields, where the Bears competed against one of the strongest fields of the fall. The 15-team event featured 12 programs ranked inside the preseason top 30. BU opened the season at the Bombs Darts Birds Collegiate in Arizona, finishing tied for seventh at 32-under par.
Baylor will send a familiar lineup to Dallas, with Alex Heard, Jonas Appel, Chase Yenser, Tyler Sanford and Davis Ovard all making their third consecutive starts. Appel leads the Bears in scoring average through the first two events, while Heard enters the week after closing the Fighting Illini Invitational with a final-round 71. Patrick Babb and Jack Murphy will also compete as individuals, with Babb making his second individual appearance this fall, and Murphy, a junior transfer from the University of Washington, set to make his first start as a Bear.
The tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday, with three days of competition running through Tuesday. Results and live scoring for the event can be found on Scoreboard by Clippd.
