85 Bears to compete in two-day meet
WACO, Texas – Baylor track & field continues its outdoor season this weekend with its last home meet of the year at the Michael Johnson Invitational at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium from April 18-19.
85 student-athletes will compete for the Bears, as they face off with Oklahoma, UNT, South Carolina, TAMU-CC, UTA, SFA, Tarleton St., Nebraska, UIW, Sam Houston St., Illinois St., N. Illinois, Northwestern St., Barton County CC, Georgia St., TCU, Arkansas Pine Bluff, ACU, Texas St., NMJC, Western Texas, Texas Wesleyan.
Senior standout Nathaniel Ezekiel continues to impress, recently earning a spot on The Bowerman Award Watch List. After a runner-up finish in the 400m at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Ezekiel aims to maintain his momentum as he competes in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and 4x400m relay this weekend.
Graduate sprinter and jumper Alexis Brown has made significant strides this season and recently set a personal record in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet 11.75 inches at the Pepsi Florida Relays. Brown became the first Baylor woman to hit 7.0 meters with her 22-11.75 (2.8 m/s) mark. The graduate ranks sixth in collegiate history outdoors and is only the sixth collegian all-time to break seven meters in any wind.
Freshman thrower Igor Olaru looks to keep shattering his own records after setting a new program-best hammer throw for the second time this season with a distance of 214 feet 2 inches last week in College Station.
The pole vault duo of Molly Haywood and Tenly Kuhn both rank inside the top-10 in the nation with both recently earning PRs last week at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational.
Both the men's team and sixth ranked women's team look to build on strong seasons as they compete at home for the final time this season. The meet kicks off Friday at 11 a.m. at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
On Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m., Baylor will be recognizing its 25 seniors from the class of 2025.
