Appel Posts Top-10 Finish to Lead MG in Hawaii

WACO, Texas -- Jonas Appel fired a 2-under to finish in 10th place and highlight the Baylor men's golf eight-place finish at the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational, played on Wednesday and Thursday and hosted by Hawaii at Pearl CC in Aiea, Hawaii.
Baylor wrapped up its fall schedule with an eight-place finish in an 18-team field in Hawaii. The Bears finished 9-over with an 873-team score, shooting a 296-292-285 score over the 54-hole event.
The Bears played nearly two complete rounds on Wednesday, firing an 8-over and a 4-over before a 3-under total team score on Thursday.
Appel finished with a 2-under total score to place 10th. Consecutive 71s started his first two rounds before an even-par 72 on Thursday.
Vincent Stjernfeldt finished in 17th with an even-par score, including a pair of 73s and a 70 in the middle round.
Davis Ovard fired a 5-over and went 74-77-70 to finish 41st.
Alex Heard finished 61st and had a 2-under on Thursday. He went 78-76-70 over the three rounds with a pair of eagles.
Sam Dossey had a 78-75-73 to finish at 10-over. Martin Kemp, competing as an individual, shot a 76 in the first round.
The Bears return to action on Feb. 9-10 in Montgomery, Texas, at the Bentwater Collegiate.
