No. 23 Soccer Drops Big 12 Semifinal Match to BYU

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 23 Baylor soccer (12-4-4, 7-3-1 Big 12) couldn't muster up a comeback against BYU (10-6-4, 4-5-2 Big 12), falling 4-0 on Wednesday night in the Big 12 Tournament semifinal match presented by Allstate.
The Bears got seven shots off in the first frame, with one just landing on goal, but not before BYU could add a pair of goals in the 30th and 36th minutes.
On the first, the Cougs connected off a corner piece with the shot coming from Ellie Walburch's header just outside goal from Afton Perry and Presley Freeman. Mattyn Summers-Oviatt scored BYU's insurance goal with another header off a free-kick set piece.
The Bears best chance at a comeback after half started in the 52nd minute, when BU earned five consecutive corner kicks within four minutes, getting off three shots off without finding the back of the net.
BYU added to their lead in the 67th minute, as Walburch struck again before Ella Labrum scored again for the Cougs in the 78th minute.
BU ended the night with 15 shots to BYU's 21, with three coming on frame.
