Bears look to stay undefeated at home
WACO, Texas – No. 9 Baylor equestrian (1-4, 1-2 Big 12) closes its fall slate against No. 7 SMU (0-3, 0-0) this Friday at 11 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
The Bears are in search of their second win of the season and are looking to stay undefeated at home.
Last time out, senior Lauren Reid earned her third Most Outstanding Performer award of the season in Flat. Reid tied for third in most MOPs earned in a season and fourth for career MOP in Flat during the Maxwell era, matching with former Bear Dominika Silvestri (2020-24).
Reid earned BU's sole point in Flat while senior Lauren Jorgensen earned the green and gold's sole point in Flat. In Horsemanship, Anna Thron and Avery Mortman each earned a point and garnered their first point of the season. In Reining, Britt McIlnay and Riley Cachat both earned a point with Cachat earning her first point of the season.
The Mustangs currently lead the all-time series over the Bears, 8-7. The two last faced off last season, where SMU defeated Baylor 15-3. BU earned its three points in Jumping Seat, with seniors Emma Covarrubias and Jorgensen each earning a point in Fences.
The meet will celebrate equestrians' 20th year at Baylor and Thanksgiving at the Willis. Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods to be donated to the Caritas Food Bank. Participating fans will be entered into a raffle to win tickets to Baylor Football's last home game of the season against Houston on Nov. 29.
