WT Punches Two Singles Tickets to NCAA Championships

A month removed from a doubles qualification, Na Dong and Zuzanna Kubacha punch singles draw tickets to nationals
WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis wrapped up the fall regular season with strong performances across two events, highlighted by both Bears in action qualifying for the 2025 NCAA DI Singles Championship at the ITA Central Sectional Championship, hosted by Texas A&M.
At sectionals, junior Zuzanna Kubacha and senior Na Dong led the way for the Bears. Kubacha powered through three rounds, including a comeback win over Kansas' Heike Janse van Vuuren and a straight-set victory against Iowa's Daianne Hayashida in the quarterfinals to punch her ticket to Nationals. Dong added an impressive run of her own, defeating Arkansas' Katarina Pavlechova and Texas Tech's Hailey Murphy in the playoff semifinals to secure her spot in Orlando.
With their qualification, Dong and Kubacha become the 23rd and 24th Bears in program history and the 21st and 22nd players of the Joey Scrivano era to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. The duo will pair up to compete in the doubles draw, after earning qualification at the ITA Texas Regional Championships.
Meanwhile in Waco, Baylor hosted the H-E-B Invitational, where the Bears delivered several deep runs in both singles and doubles. The duo of Kennedy Gibbs and Alian Zack advanced to the doubles final after three straight wins, including a semifinal tiebreak victory over Rice's Divna Ratkovic and Daniela Chica, before finishing as runners-up. In singles, both Gibbs and Zack reached the East draw finals following a string of three-set battles.
Luna Ivkovic also impressed with a semifinal appearance in the main singles draw, highlighted by a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over UTSA's Aoka Nagasawa.
