Bears back to Betty Lou for the penultimate home match of the regular season
WACO, Texas – No. 14 Baylor hosts BYU at Betty Lou Mays Field on Friday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bears (9-1-2, 4-1 Big 12) enter the match on a four game win streak, most recently defeating Iowa State, 3-0, and Colorado, 2-1. Baylor has climbed to No. 2 in the Big 12, with its only setback a 1-0 penalty-kick loss to first-place Texas Tech.
BYU (7-3-2, 2-2-1 Big 12) started Big 12 play ranked No.10 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, but followed with back-to-back losses to Arizona State, 2–1, and West Virginia, 3–2, before rebounding with wins over Cincinnati and Oklahoma State.
Baylor and BYU are set to meet for the 5th time in program history, with the Cougars leading the all-time series 2-1-1. The last time the two faced off was last season which resulted in a 3-3 draw in Provo, Utah. The Bears are yet to beat the Cougs in the Michelle Lenard era.
Baylor jumped to No. 14 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, through matches played on Oct. 5. In the most recent NCAA RPI, the Bears are No. 4, highlighted by wins over then-No. 17 Mississippi State and then-No. 14 Kansas. BYU sits at No. 27 in that RPI update, with ranked wins over then-No. 4 UCLA and then-No. 24 Minnesota.
