Dong, Gibbs earn first Baylor wins
CARY, N.C. – Baylor women's tennis wrapped up its time at the 2024 ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park.
Kennedy Gibbs and Na Dong recorded their first singles and doubles wins in a Baylor uniform at the tournament. Gibbs, a transfer from Purdue, went 1-1 in singles and freshman, Dong, also joined the 1-1 singles tally. Pairing up together, the two earned a victory in the consolation round of pre-qualifying doubles play.
THE RUNDOWN
Zuzanna Kubacha, Gibbs and Dong each earned a singles win in the national tournament in the first two days of competition. Kubacha defeated Michigan State's Matile Morais and Gibbs took down Dartmouth's Peyton Capuano each in the first round of the pre-qualifying singles draw, while Dong's win came against Arizona's Martyna Ostrzygalo in consolation play, 7-6(0), 6-2.
In doubles, the pairing of Gibbs and Dong dropped their first pre-qualifying round match to a Florida pair before defeating No. 82 Nibedita Gosh and Akari Matuno from Notre Dame, 6-1, 6-3.
No. 27 Cristina Tiglea fought in her first tournament as a Bear but fell 0-2 on the week in the main singles draw paired up against 46th-ranked Petra Sedlackova from Alabama and Vanderbilt's Celia-Bella Mohr, the No. 3 player in the nation.

Back in Texas, Baylor heads to the ITA Regional Championships at TCU Oct. 10-14.
