LUBBOCK, Texas – Baylor soccer fell against Texas Tech, 1-0, Friday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The Bears defense kept Texas Tech in check in the first half, fielding eight shots from the Red Raiders. Azul Alvarez made two saves in the first half to keep Texas Tech scoreless in the first 45.
Ashley Merrill took the Bears' only shot of the first half in the 11th minute but that would be the only chance for Baylor in the first half.
To get things started in the second half, Alvarez made a save in the 51st minute, but Texas Tech found the lead in the 62nd minute to go up 1-0.
Fending off the Red Raiders attack, BU's Tyler Isgrig put the first shot on frame for the Green and Gold in the 74thminute but the Texas Tech goalkeeper came up with the save. Three minutes later, Isgrig took a shot from distance, but another diving save stopped Baylor from the equalizer.
After Isgrig's second shot, neither team attempted a goal until the 90th minute when Texas Tech had a shot blocked, leading to the 1-0 victory for the Red Raiders.

Up next, the Bears will head home to host Arizona State on Thursday, Oct. 10, and West Virginia, Sunday, Oct. 13.
