Bears have nine ranked in the NCAA top 25 individually
WACO, Texas – Following back-to-back home meets, Baylor track & field is back on the road for the LSU Alumni Gold Friday and Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
"It's another meet leading up to the Big 12 meet," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We're just trying to continue to improve and do what we need to do to become a better overall team on both the men's and women's sides. We want to try to stay healthy again. Hopefully we get a little better weather than we had last week and have a chance to really move up in the rankings. We're primed and ready. We just need some good weather."
Through five outdoor meets, Baylor is outside of the USTFCCCA top-25 on the men's and women's sides, but have several individuals in the hunt to qualify for the NCAA West Regional Championships.
We're taking a good group," Harbour said. "Most of our distance squad will stay here and train but we've got a pretty good group going – sprint wise, jumps, hurdles, throws – every else is going pretty much."
Top-25 ranked athletes on the women's team include Aaliyah Miller (No. 3 – 800m), Tuesdi Tidwell (No. 4 – pole vault), Kavia Francis (No. 23 – 200m), the 4x100m relay (No. 19) and the 4x400m relay (No. 16).
On the men's side, Kamden Jackson (No. 19 – 100m), Howard Fields III (No. 15 – 400m), the 4x100m relay (No. 9) and the 4x400m relay (No. 4) are all ranked in the top 25.
