AUSTIN – Despite outshooting the Longhorns by a 23-16 margin, Baylor dropped a 1-0 contest to Texas Friday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Five minutes into the match, Baylor was awarded its first penalty kick of the season when Taylor Moon drew a foul inside the box. Maddie Algya lined up to take the shot, but her attempt went wide of the goal.
Less than 30 seconds later, the Longhorns took the lead off a goal by Cameron Brooks.
That was all Texas was able to score as Wandt and the Baylor defense locked things down the rest of the match. While the Longhorns finished with 16 shots, there were several times a Texas attack was stifled in the box by the BU back line.
Offensively, the Bears kept the pressure on the Longhorns the entire match, as shown by the edge in corner kicks (7-4) and shots on goal (10-7). In the second half alone, Baylor nearly doubled up Texas in shots (11-6). Multiple times Baylor nearly had the equalizer, but Texas goalkeeper Savannah Madden made the save to keep the Bears off the board.
HIGHLIGHTS
23 – Number of shots by the Bears

Paul Jobson on the game…
"I was really proud of these girls. I really thought we outplayed a really good UT team most of the match, but some things didn't go our way and the result obviously went to them. We will recover and get prepared for OU next week."
