
WT Resumes Play with Pair of SEC Matches on the Road

Bears to face Rebels, Bulldogs in Oxford, Miss.
WACO, Texas – After a 3-0 start to the season, the Baylor women's tennis team resumes play after an 11-day layoff Saturday when the Bears take on Ole Miss at 4 p.m. in Oxford, Miss. Following that match, Baylor stays on the Ole Miss campus where it will face Mississippi State Sunday at Noon.
Baylor took 7-0 wins over Georgia State (Jan. 17) and McNeese State (Jan. 20) and a 5-2 win over UTSA to begin the season unblemished. The Bears will test that record at Ole Miss with the Rebels entering the match with a 3-1 mark.
Sunday, the Bears will face Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs have a 4-1 start to the season, including a 4-2 win over Baylor Big 12 foe, Kansas State on Sunday.
The Bears are 7-0 in doubles matches this season and three players hit singles milestones the last time Baylor played. Senior Angelina Shakhraichuk won her 50th career match Jan. 20 vs. McNeese State. Senior Jessica Hinojosa won her 40th career doubles match vs. McNeese as well and Kris Sorokolet won her 40th career singles match vs. UTSA.
Baylor is 3-3 all-time vs. Ole Miss and Sunday will mark the first time that the Bears and Mississippi State have played one another.
Saturday's match will have live stats coverage on olemisssports.com while the neutral match vs. Mississippi State Sunday, will not.
