Bears defeat McNeese State & UTSA in doubleheader
THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor University's women's tennis team moved to 3-0 Monday with wins over McNeese State (0-2) and UTSA (0-1) at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
The Bears took a 7-0 sweep over McNeese State before taking down UTSA 5-2.
Angie Shakhraichuk highlighted the win over the Cowgirls in the morning with her 50th career singles win. She defeated Sofia San Jose Moren, 6-0, 6-2. Shakhraichuk also teamed up with Kris Sorokolet to win doubles matches in both contests.
Baylor took the doubles point vs. the Roadunners and then won singles matches two through six. Anastasia Kharitonova dropped a heartbreaker in three sets to Jasmin Starr of UTSA, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).
HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior Angie Shakhraichuk won the 50th singles match of her career vs. McNeese State's Moren.
• Senior Jessica Hinojosa teamed up with Alicia Herrero Linana on the No. 1 doubles court vs. McNeese for a 6-4 win, which gave Hinojosa her 40th career doubles victory.
• Junior Kris Sorokolet's 40th career singles win and 25th career dual-match singles win came vs. UTSA with her win on the No. 4 court vs. Catalina Cabrique, 6-3, 6-1.
