Sorokolet & Barañano win on singles court in loss for Bears
THE RUNDOWN
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — The No. 17-ranked USC women's tennis team handed Baylor a 4-2 defeat Saturday night at the Indian Wells Tennis Center.
After falling in doubles, Baylor (5-14) battled on the singles court taking points on the No. 3 & No. 4 court with Kristina Sorokolet and Paula Barañano taking victories, respectively.
Baylor's Jessica Hinojosa took No. 45 Salma Ewing to the wire in a three-set heartbreaker with Ewing winning, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. The Trojans (11-2) took points on the No. 5 & No. 6 courts to seal the win. Livia Kraus had nearly completed the comeback on the No. 2 court after dropping the first set 7-6 (5), she won set two 6-1 and was leading 4-1 in set three before the match concluded.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Kris Sorokolet improved to 9-7 on the year in dual-match play.
• Freshman Paula Barañano picked up her fifth win of the season in dual-match play.

Baylor returns home for a Friday/Sunday Big 12 homestand vs. Kansas and Kansas State. Friday vs. the Jayhawks, first serve is at 5 p.m. while Sunday vs. the Wildcats, the match begins at 1 p.m. The Bears are 0-1 in conference play.
