THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer (6-3-0) jumped to a 2-0 win over No. 23 Butler (6-2-0) on Thursday evening at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.
The Bears controlled the pace and possession through most of the match, splitting with the Bulldogs 11-11 on shots, but allowing just one shot on goal throughout the 90-minute contest.
BU got its first point on the scoreboard in the 37th minute, with Jackie Crowther working into the left side of the box and skating a pass through the Butler defense that found freshman Giuliana Cunningham in front of the net.
Cunningham punched her shot through to the back-left corner of the goal, good for her third score of the season and her first game-winner.
Coming out of half looking for insurance, Raegan Padgett used a deflected shot that bounced free in front of the goal.
The junior forward took advantage of the Butler keeper creeping forward off her line, chipping a shot over Leonie Doege's head and sneaking goal number two of the evening in to give BU the 2-0 advantage, holding as the final score in the contest.

TOP QUOTES
"They didn't have a lot of opportunities. Defensively, I thought we did really well. The challenge for tonight's game was to see if we could put it together for 90 minutes through and I felt that we were able to do that. With our goal keepers, we try to make sure they don't have to do a whole lot and when they have to, they can go out and make a great save. I think with the way the defense played tonight we were able to do that. We defended from the front to the back and didn't really allow them to get to get through a whole lot. This was great for our goal keeper to not have to do a whole lot." – Baylor head coach Paul Jobson
"We believe we've lost a couple games against great teams just like this that were definitely winnable. And we were just looking to complete a game, play a full 90 minutes, not 45, not half of a half. So, I really think we did that today. And I think it's really good for us to finally complete that before going into Big 12 next week. So, we're excited." – Baylor forward Raegan Padgett
