
WT Closes Season in NCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Baylor women's tennis saw its NCAA Championships run come to an end on Saturday, May 12 to 14th-ranked UCLA, 4-0. The 25th-ranked Bears finish the season with an 18-14 record overall and 8-12 mark against ranked opponents.
The Bears and Bruins fought tooth and nail to secure the doubles point. UCLA struck first with a 6-3 win on court three, before Baylor evened the score with an upset victory on court one. Freshmen Dominika Sujova and Giorgia Testa knocked off seventh-ranked Terri Fleming and Jada Hart. Court two was a battle, but the Bruins came out on time for the lead.
From there, the Bruins registered singles wins on court six, one and four to clinch the team win and earn a spot in the NCAA Championships Round of 16.
Senior Theresa Van Zyl played the final match of her Baylor career at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The team captain and lone upperclassman tallied a 13-15 record, competing against each team's top player in the No. 1 position for the Bears. In her career, Van Zyl posted a 64-41 (.610) singles record.
